Adelaide Theatres

There are many festivals throughout the year when the Adelaide theatrical world ups the ante, but there are plenty of theatre events being held at any time throughout the city. The Adelaide Festival Centre always has a full program with musicals, dance, opera, concerts and theatre and aims to offer an eclectic mix of performances to meet the many and varied tastes of local Adelaide residents and visitors. Living up to the “festival state” title, the centre puts on its own festivals throughout the year including the Cabaret Festival, OzAsia Festival and Guitar Festival as well as taking part in the planning and support of other Adelaide based festivals throughout the year. If you are a theatre buff, then make sure you check out the upcoming events at the centre before you arrive in town.

The Adelaide Independent Theatre has been providing local audiences with independent productions of everything from Greek tragedies to world premieres by local playwrights since 1984. Each year the company puts on at least three productions, most of which are Australian or world premieres. Other theatrical groups throughout Adelaide that regularly put on performances include: Ink Pot Theatre, Northern Light Theatre Company, Red Chilli Theatre Company, Splash Theatre and Teatro del Mundo among others.
